Good Morning to you all,

  1. It is a great honour and pleasure for me to have an apportunity to speak at the Fourth GEGG Forum.Allow me toexpress my deep appreciation and heartiest thanks to His Excellency President U TheinSein for gracing the Fourth GEGG Forum. I would like to express our profound appreciation and gratitude to all the international and national collaborating Institutions and Agencies for supporting the Fourth Forum with their own resources and time, these include:- IGES of Japan; WWF of USA;
    Cornell University, New York; SEI of Sweden; George Washington University of USA; Smithsonian Institution of USA;
    UNDP Myanmar for their generous support and above all, the Norwegian Government’s financial support without which it would have been difficult to hold the Fourth Forum. Due to time limitation, please forgive me for not been able to mention allthe names of many other well known institutions and Collaborating partners and supporting Government Ministries, including the Mandalay Regional government and their supporting partners. There are also few NGOs who have collaborated in this Forum. Although I could not mention all their names, fortunately, most of whom are already displayed in their Logo form in the stage’s Back Drop. On behalf of GEGG, please accept our profound thanks and gratitude to all our Collaborating partners for your indespensable contributions and effective support whichresulted in completion of the preparation work of the Fourth GEGG Forum in Nay Pyi Taw and Mandalay.
  2. I would like to briefly recall the First GEGG Forum in November 2011 which was relatively a small one with the attendance of about 220 person. By the Third Forum it had grown to over420 participants including 110 foreign Speakers and Coordinators in Nay Pyi Taw and 310partcipants in Yangon. We believe that during the past four years, these Forums along with other workshops and meetings collaborated by international and national collaborators have helped to move the greening process in Myanmar a littlefaster.
  3. Permit me to briefly mention the eventful period of GEGG Myanmar (not for profit) Association during the second half of 2014. Our extensive renovations of 2 large buildings in 3.3 acres of land in the compound of Myanmar Scientific and Technological Research Department in Yangon was made available to house the Center of Excellence for Greening (CoE-G) by the Ministry of Science and Technology and later to establish the ASEAN Institute for Green Economy (AIGE) within the complex of CoE-G. As you are aware, at the 25thASEAN Summit in Nay Pyi Taw, all the ASEAN membersGovernments endorsed the establishment of ASEAN Institute for Green Economy (AIGE) in Yangon. The GEGG (not for profit) Association is very honored to be host the AIGE.
    In early December during the official State visit of their Majesty King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway, their Majesties inaugurated and unveiled the two marble plaques of the CoE-G and AIGE and the ceremony was attended by five Union Ministers, Chief Minister of Yangon, the Speaker of Yangon Hluttaw and the Mayor of Yangon and few from the Diplomatic Corps.
  4. The theme of the Fourth GEGG Forum is “ Expanding Cooperation &Deepending Integration for Sustainable National Resoures, Social & Economic Development” in the contxt of Myanmar Chairing ASEAN.
  5. Excellencies, Distinguished Guests, Eminent Panelists, Ladies and Gentlemen
    May I conclude by expressingour profound thanks and gratitude to all who have worked tirelessly towards the successful implementation of this Fourth GEGG Forum in Nay Pyi Taw and in Mandalay.
